Modeling Strategy - Example

Engineering Calculation Paper Sketch the border and title block on engineering calculation paper Grid = .02

Lightly Block in Required Views Determine how many views are required, overall dimensions, and spacing required for all dimensions. Use ¼” minimum for blank spacing required between views and/or dimensions.

Modeling Strategy – Main Feature

Main Feature – 2D Shape and Size 3) Lightly sketch the feature in the rest of the views. Lightly sketch the feature in most descriptive view. Add dimensions (remember design intent) Design Intent: The height of the base and the width of the leg are important.

Modeling Strategy – Main Feature

Lightly Sketch 3rd Dimension Extrude depth.

Modeling Strategy – 2nd Feature

2nd Feature – 2D Shape and Size Lightly sketch the feature in the rest of the views. Add dimensions (remember design intent) Design Intent: The size of the slot is important and located from the front right corner.

Modeling Strategy – 2nd Feature

Lightly Sketch 3rd Dimension Extrude (cut) the slot all the way thru the object.

Modeling Strategy – 3rd Feature

3rd Feature – 2D Shape and Size Lightly sketch the feature in the rest of the views. Add dimensions (remember design intent) Design Intent: The size of the notch is important.

Modeling Strategy – 3rd Feature

Lightly Sketch 3rd Dimension Extrude (cut) the notch all the way through the object.
