Intro to Social Investment Intro to Social Investment. Ask who is Grant dependent, if its getting easier to find grants, what will happen if grants continue to disappear… Ask which organisations have income streams that aren’t grants, and could these be developed. Does anyone have any ideas of something they could do but don’t have the funding to get things started. Explain different sorts of Social Investment, but that for smaller organisations the main ones are Grants, Blended Finance, Social Loans, Patient Capital and Quasi Equity.

Who has heard of TLC. (Show of hands) Who has heard of Relate Who has heard of TLC? (Show of hands) Who has heard of Relate? That’s their problem. They are a Chairty. Rebrand in April 2017, drop off in people approaching them for services. They don’t turn anyone away, so number of free and discounted sessions also reducing. We invested £50k to support Advertising campaign to help promote the brand.

A social enterprise, (Community Interest Company) They provide workshops, events, and food growing advice for people and organisations and run activities in schools on some NHS trusts as well as working on urban spaces and in some of the most deprived areas in Greater Manchester. Their mission is to build a healthier city where everyone can grow their own food. They received £41,900 to help develop their new location at the Boiler House in Moss Side, and to recruit another full-time member of staff to allow them to take on additional projects.

INVOLVED (SALFORD) Addventures organisation… Talent Match host organisation A Co-operative We invested £10k to fund a staff member to support their social aims at their new location. Very community based, running well-being, social inclusion and integration activities for the people in the local area.
