Breaking Down Battle Break down two important battles of the Revolutionary war in Georgia Give a heads up on the test on Thursday Let’s talk about the simulation

Kettle Creek Buildup Loyalist James Boyd took a British troop from New York into Georgia Pickens, Dooly, and Clarke wanted to take the base They decided to surround Boyd’s troop on Valentines Day

Battle Of Kettle Creek Occurred February 14th 1779 Raised the morale of Georgia Patriots The Georgia Militia were led by Elijah Clarke and Thomas Dooly Austin Dabney and Nancy Hart are among the patriots to fight in this battle The most important patriot victory for Georgians in the revolutionary war

Kettle Creek Effects Over 300 loyalists died on this day, including Boyd himself The patriots spoiled the Tories Dream to return the south to British control Patriots gained confidence for future encounters

Siege of Savannah Buildup The effects of the Declaration of Independence were felt by the British Over 3,000 troops were sent by the British to retake Georgia in 1778 Not only did they take Savannah the British also held Augusta by the beginning of 1779 James Wright returned to Georgia in 1779

Siege of Savannah Georgia was the only colony recaptured by the British The French and Patriots tried to retake the city in October of 1779 but failed horribly A black Haitian troop fought 800 patriots died (including Pulaski) but only 18 British died after 5 days of fighting This was a victory for the British and Loyalist

Siege of Savannah Effects The beat up French Army with remaining Haitian forces retreated The British forces encamped in the fort found here for days and dealt a commanding blow to patriots in Georgia

Test on Thursday You will be responsible for all material up to this point We will really focus on SS8H3 Have a small review on Wednesday so be here
