Michael A. Fallucco, Colin P. Snell, Ankit R. Desai DIEP flap customization using Fluobeam® indocyanine green tissue perfusion assessment with large previous abdominal scar  Michael A. Fallucco, Colin P. Snell, Ankit R. Desai  JPRAS Open  Volume 12, Pages 25-30 (June 2017) DOI: 10.1016/j.jpra.2017.02.003 Copyright © 2017 The Author(s) Terms and Conditions

Figure 1 The Fluobeam® is a portable, near-infrared camera that is held and controlled by the surgeon to visualize tissue perfusion using indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging. ICG is administered intravenously, the near-infrared laser excites the ICG which is then captured by the optical head and this data is displayed on the computer screen for interpretation. Figure 2 Pre-operative evaluation of a 50-year-old female with previous open appendectomy abdominal scar who presents with T2N2M0 triple positive right breast cancer. Oncologic treatment included neoadjuvant chemotherapy, bilateral mastectomies and right chest wall irradiation. She desires autologous breast mound reconstruction. Figure 3 Example of Fluosoft® quantification software analysis. Quantification provides a color representation of relative tissue perfusion. Once we perform quantification as seen in the color image on the right we can translated this onto the real-time gray-scale image on the left. This allows us to trim non-viable tissue that in our experience is represented as less than 30%. Figure 4 Bilateral breast mound reconstruction with the DIEP flaps was successful with no areas of fat necrosis palpated and no chest or abdominal wound healing sequelae. JPRAS Open 2017 12, 25-30DOI: (10.1016/j.jpra.2017.02.003) Copyright © 2017 The Author(s) Terms and Conditions
