A more extensive review of these processes with full lists of supporting references is presented elsewhere (Baldwin et al., 2002; Oliver, 2004). A recent report has called into question the involvement of LEC precursors in tumor lymphangiogenesis (He et al., 2004b). The role of FOXC2 has recently been delineated (Petrova et al., 2004).
