Harvesting for Heaven

Matthew 9:35-38 35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

3. The Motivation for Harvesting A. Compassion – your friends & neighbours are weary & lost Matthew 10:5-8 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd

3. The Motivation for Harvesting B. Fear - God has COMMANDED you to speak for Him! Matthew 10 27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. … 32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

3. The Motivation for Harvesting C. Love – Jesus is worth it Matthew 10 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. WHO DO YOU LOVE MOST?

CONCLUSION Our actions have eternal consequences – be heavenly minded: Be a labourer in the Harvest – the dying world needs you to speak up! Let LOVE, FEAR, & COMPASSION motivate you to be a part of the harvest in 2017
