The Kingdom The phrase, ‘Kingdom of God/Heaven’ in Scripture is a dynamic concept—it means the action of God’s rule, more than the realm or place of God’s rule. When and where God’s reign is experienced.

The Kingdom Jesus said, ‘If I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you’ (Matt 12:28) The governing influence of a king over his territory; producing a citizenry of people who express his culture and reflect his nature.

The Kingdom The Kingdom is the rule of God, the Church is the community that receives and expresses the rule of God. church- ekklesia “called out ones” only kings/emperors had ekklesias “called out by the king”

Luke’s Gospel Pilate found out that Jesus was Galilean and sent Him to Herod Herod was greatly pleased and wanted to see Jesus perform a sign of some sort Jesus gave him no answer

Luke’s Gospel The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him. Matthew and Mark’s Gospels When He was accused by the chief priests and the elders, He gave no answer.

Matthew’s Gospel Pilate’s wife warned him to not to have anything to do with this innocent man because “I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”

Matthew’s Gospel When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, he washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” The people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!”

Only in John’s Gospel Chap 19 vs. 6-15

The Kingdom is the rule of God “The Kingdom of God is… righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom 14:17) That’s God’s rule. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” (1 Cor. 4:20)

What must we do to advance the Kingdom of God? We must first seek it (Matt 6:33) The center of a kingdom is not an organization, but a king! We must get to the King
