Beverley Manor Middle School FFA “THE HOW-TO ON SELLING CITRUS FRUIT SUCCESSFULLY!”

Citrus Sales begin today, September 28, 2012 in Augusta County.

Orders will be taken during the month of October Orders will be taken during the month of October. All members must place their order with Mrs. Shomo on a special form no later than November 2nd. The form will be given to you at the end of October.

If you receive an order in November, take it and turn it into Mrs If you receive an order in November, take it and turn it into Mrs. Shomo. I do order extra fruit. We will sell fruit until the last box is gone! You will get credit for all of the boxes that you sell!

Delivery to BMMS via tractor-trailer will be on the evening of December 3rd, if all goes well between here and Florida.

So what do we sell? 4/5 bushel box = $25 Juice Oranges Navel Oranges Tangeloes Red Grapefruit

Or ½ box = $14 We separate into half boxes, using the top of the box to hold the other ½ case.

All boxes are marked as to how many pieces of fruit are in them, for a ½ box, divide by 2.

Juice Oranges $25 whole box $14 for ½ box Medium Size Usually seedless Thin skinned Great for juice 80 per box

Navel Oranges $25 – whole box $14 – ½ box Our most popular seller! Seedless Medium to large size They do have a bellybutton! 64 per full box

Tangeloes $25 – whole box $14 – ½ box 100 per box, 50 - ½ box Excellent taste Easy to peel Medium size Excellent for juice

Red Grapefruit $25 – whole case $14 – ½ case Medium to large size 36 per box Pink to red color inside

So, now that you know what we sell, let’s talk about how to do it…

Money – I will take whenever you get it – either before or after fruit sales!

Use our order form to accurately record your orders!

Sell to people that you know Sell to people that you know. Don’t forget to ask churches, small grocery stores, and ask your parents to take the order form to work!

Please do not sell to teachers in this building unless you are planning to deliver to their homes. They have already been instructed to purchase from the AG Department.

The early bird will get the worm!

And the question that everyone wants to ask… How much money will I make selling fruit?

1 – 10 cases of fruit - $1 per case

10 ½ - 20 cases of fruit = $1.25 10 ½ cases = $13.25 20 cases = 25.00

20 ½ - 30 cases of fruit = $1.50 20 ½ cases = $30.75 30 cases = $45.00

30 ½ - 40 cases = $1.75 per case 30 ½ cases = $53.25 40 cases = $70.00

40 ½ - 50 cases of fruit = $2.00 per case

You do the math! You will make money selling fruit!

Other prizes include… If you sell 25 cases of fruit – a trip to the PA Farm Show on January 5, 2013 Everyone earns FFA BUCKS !
