Today’s workshop is part of our efforts to respond to this request of COP. We will have presentations on: -- Overview of COP decisions related to the global initiative -- Brief on National Efforts related to banking, business and biodiversity -- Brief overview of relevant UN initiatives/processes -- Example: farmers’ involvement in biodiversity activities Mr. Yibin Xiang and Mr. Pascal Poinlane from our Secretariat and Professor Harold Brookfield from United Nations University will present the results of their assessments. 11/24/2018 SCBD

Brainstorming Corrections/comments/additional information Suggestions for next steps Possible collaboration for further development Seeking financial support for possible regional and international meetings The presentations we just have had provides a picture of where we stand now, mainly by identifying issues to be addressed by the Global Initiative on Banking, Business and Biodiversity. We welcome corrections/comments/additional information, suggestions for next steps, possible collaboration for further development. We are also seeking financial support for possible regional and international meetings to further develop the initiative. Partnership and regional and international meetings are essential to secure wide support for a possible global initiative. Without participation/involvement of relevant stakeholders, it is hard to imagine that any such initiative can be adopted by the Conference of the Parties. Now the floor is open. 11/24/2018 SCBD
