PowerPoint 2003 Presentation Mission Statement The Education & Job Information Center (95-EJIC) is a specialized subject division within the Central Library of the Brooklyn Public Library. The Center’s mission is to provide the residents of the Borough of Brooklyn and all others with information and services to meet their education and career goals. PowerPoint 2003 Presentation EJIC Chronology 1974/1975 - Started as “Learn Your Way Center” with two staff members 1977/1978 - Learn Your Way Center and Job Information Center Combined still with two staff members 1978/1979 - GED classes given, GED referral list started, Career Counseling- College of Staten Island, Learn Your Way Center named Job Information Center, Began organizing collection by subject headings 1979/1980 - EIC grant begins $35,000.00 first year, 43 hour service week to full service hours of Central Library 1983/1984 - CUNY SUNY Forms Distributed, Typewriter for resume use-purchased with New York EIC grant funds 1984/1985 – Ten staff, Two full time staff as career counselors conducts one on one career counseling by appointment 1987/1988 - SIGI PLUS purchased 1988/1989 - Nine staff members 1989/1990 - End of EIC grant 1991/1992 - Loss of one day of service-Central Library closed due to budget cuts 11/24/2018 PowerPoint 2003 Presentation
