Line of Succession President Vice President Speaker of the House Senate President Secretary of State Secretary of Treasury Secretary of Defense

President Commander in Chief of armed forces, creates treaties with other countries, reports to congress, and enforces laws.

Vice President Assistant to the President, act as presiding officer of the Senate, and must be ready to become President in the event anything happens to the President.

Speaker of the House Officer of the House of Representatives, leader of the majority party, and assists the VP.

Senate President Serves as presiding officer in the absence of the VP, authorized to preside over the Senate, sign legislation, and issue the oath of office to new senators.

Secretary of State The adviser to the President in foreign affairs, carries out the President’s foreign policies through the State Department and Foreign Service of the US.

Secretary of Treasury Principal economic advisor to the President in bringing an economic and government financial policy advice to certain issues.

Secretary of Defense In charge of the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and the Army in carrying out unified and specified combatant commands.
