Membership Development Strategy 2008-10 The aims of the strategy are: A larger membership An active membership A diverse membership An inclusive membership An informed membership A questioning membership IPSG – Rachel Jackson & Stan White Now links with Involving People strategy and Governors sit on the Involving People Steering Group

Membership Development Group Progress during 2008/09 Held quarterly meetings during the year Have developed a Work Plan Agreed changes to public meetings and monitored outcomes Involved in developing new membership recruitment information

Member Recruitment 2008/09 Membership as of 31/03/09 - 19,395 Public 13,297 Staff 6,098 By constituency East Devon, Dorset and Somerset 4,828 Exeter and South Devon 5,198 Mid North West Devon and Cornwall 3,271 By county Devon 12,830, Cornwall 145, Dorset 94, Somerset 228 Mailing to approx 19,700 prospective new members recently undertaken

Membership Engagement Activities 2008/09 Medicine for members – successful series of health related talks from clinical professionals continuing January 2009 – 70 members attended the eye care talk 23 July – Dermatology Constituency meetings continuing – but still under review by the Membership Development Group Annual Report Survey – 3,000 members gave us their views Trust Open Day July 08 Mid Devon Show July 08 Also held Rheumatology, Diabetes, Stroke

Membership Engagement Activities -Plans for 2009/10 Continue Medicine for Members talks Continue review of membership activities, including range of meetings via the Membership Development Group Open day 6th June - the theme ‘Community & Us’ and a focus on National Volunteer Week RD&E stand at Mid Devon Show, 26 July, publicised to members via newsletter & website Governors Annual Report 2008/09 as part of production of RD&E Annual Report, informing members of governor activities in greater detail
