Percentages. What Are Percentages? A percentage is a number expressed as a fraction of 100. We use the percent sign % when representing numbers as a percentage.
Conversions % Multiply by a special form of 1 Divide 2 by 5
Working with Percentages. Writing percentages as fractions ‘Percent’ means ‘out of 100’. To write a percentage as a fraction we write it over a hundred.

The numerator of a fraction out of 100 is the percentage. To change a percentage into a fraction we write a fraction with numerator the same as the percentage, and with denominator equal to 100. We then cancel it down. To change some fractions into a percentage, we try to find an equivalent fraction out of 100. The numerator of a fraction out of 100 is the percentage. x 5 x 5 To change any fraction into a percentage, we change the fraction into a decimal (by division if necessary) and change the decimal into a percentage. © T Madas
