Average amount of water used by one person per day – 150 litres Fresh water In general each of us uses approximately 150 litres of fresh water per day. Of all of it, however, we use only 4,5 % to cook or drink. Nearly 48% is used for taking a shower or a bath; 22,5% is used for washing clothes and dishes; almost 49,5% is used for toilet and 25,5% is used for other things like cleaning the house, washing hands or teeth, washing the car and watering plants in the garden. Water consumption for the production of various agricultural products Agricultural production contains large amounts of water, which is taken from surface water or groundwater. Water consumption for the production of various agricultural products 1 kg beef 1kg pork, bacon, ham 1kg potatoes 1 egg 1kg sugar from sugar beet 1kg crystal sugar 1l milk 1kg bread 1kg chicken 1kg wheat

On the trail of hidden water Water consumption for industry represents 22% of the water used worldwide. 70% of water is used for agriculture, while 8% is used in households. Every year industry uses 7,9 billion cubic metres of water from the Danube basin. Furthermore, other 15,400,000,000 cubic meters of water are used for the cooling process. On the trail of hidden water Water is often hidden in products where no one can assume that it exists. For the production of an ordinary car , for example, 380 000 litres of water is used. 1computer 1tonne iron 1 cotton T-shirt 1 pair of jeans 1 pair of leather shoes 1kg coloured yarn 1l orange juice 1 package of crisps (200gr) 1kg PVC 1 can of soft drink 1 microchip 1 sheet of paper A4
