Tang Dynasty When the Han Dynasty collapsed, China split into several kingdoms. It is called the “Period of Disunion.” There was mass chaos. The Tang Dynasty arose in China in 618 A.D. when a former official overthrew the government. The Tang then ruled for over 300 years! Many historians consider this era to be the Golden Age of China.

Who Started the Tang Dynasty? Taizong helped his father Gaozu to found the Tang Dynasty. Taizong used power and force to rule. Taizong killed his 2 brothers and his brother’s 10 sons. However, the Chinese considered him a fair leader.
