Standard Compliance for Raw Material Shafiqah Fadhilah Husna Fairoza

Definition Compliance means conforming to a rule, such as a specification, policy and standard.

Raw Material Selection selects the appropriate raw materials based on functionality. Functionality providing identified characteristics of the finished product organoleptic characteristics product safety characteristics preservatives

Plant Discussions and Trials OSHA Considerations Either the new material present a potential safety or handling concern to the employees or the facility Product Safety Considerations The Nutraceutical safety team assesses the potential biological, chemical, and physical hazards affiliated with the raw material (HACCP)

Facility and Equipment Capabilities Capability of equipment to handle the raw material Sufficient storage capacity for raw material Material and Production Costs Raw material and semi-finished products cost Fuel and energy cost Packaging cost Other material cost

Raw Material Specifications The name of the product and the supplier’s item number. Components or composition of the material. Organoleptic information (appearance, flavor, and aroma). Pertinent physical, chemical, and microbiological information. Shipping and storage information. Shelf life. Handling directions.

Validation and Documentation A clear understanding of the materials being purchased is vital for suppliers and customers alike. Materials that do not meet expectations can significantly reduce productivity, increase costs due to additional testing, rework, or destruction, and can place the product, company, customers, and consumers at risk for hazardous issues
