PDO's Emergency Number – 5555 Correct Use of PDO's Emergency Number – 5555 Steps If you observe or in contact with any emergency you should dial the number: 5555 – within PDO network ( i.e. from your PDO Office phone) 246 – 75555 – from the national telephone network or via GSM 243 – 85555 from the national telephone network or via GSM The Emergency Telephone Operator (ETO) will ask you six basic questions Your name; Location of emergency; Type of emergency, e.g. fire, medical; Your contact number; Do you require ambulance; Do you require fire brigade The ETO will then contact the Local Emergency Base Controller (LEBC) and inform about the Emergency Situation & if necessary he may activate the Local Emergency Control Team & follow up accordingly in line with local/corporate emergency response procedure. Steps The following steps are meant to explain how to use the PDO’s emergency number and how it works: If you observe or in contact with any emergency you should dial the number: 5555 – within PDO network ( i.e. from your PDO Office phone) and your call will be received by nearest Emergency Telephone Operator – ETO. 246 – 75555 – from the national telephone network or via GSM will be routed to the MAF ETO and you will be transferred automatically to the ETO nearest to where you are calling from.   The Emergency Telephone Operator (ETO) will ask you six basic questions (1. Your name; 2. Location of emergency; 3. Type of emergency, e.g. fire, medical; 4. Your contact number; 5. Do you require ambulance; 6. Do you require fire brigade) in order to have details of the incident and to know your immediate requirement – Fire Brigade and/or Medics. Depending on the emergency scenario and magnitude, the ETO is empowered to mobilize the nearest emergency services – Fire Brigade and Medics if required. (The local ROP can be informed) The ETO will then contact the Local Emergency Base Controller (LEBC) and inform about the Emergency Situation & if necessary he may activate the Local Emergency Control Team & follow up accordingly in line with local/corporate emergency response procedure. Please note that: The ETO/CCR is manned 24/7. The Emergency number is strictly meant for emergency calls only – not for asking for an extension nor for trivial discussions. Observer immediately call 5555 from PDO phone 24675555 Muscat 24385555 Interior Call Out The primary means of callout of duty teams is through a group ‘SMS’ activation implemented by the ETO (for coastal teams) or the area CCR operator (for interior teams). Authority for the call out of the teams nominally lies with the team leaders (DD and LEBC). On being informed of an emergency by the ETO/ CCR Operator, the LEBC will instruct the ETO/ CCR Operator to initiate the SMS call out of the LECC team. The DD will in turn be notified by the LEBC of call out of the LECC team and will make the decision whether to send SMS to the CECC team. Immediately utilizing the Emergency phone # 5555 PDO Safety Advice Date: 06/05/17 Incident Title NAD What happened? On 5th May 2017 at 23:50 hrs the deceased was complaining of chest pain. On the way to PAC, deceased was in resting position closing his eyes with snoring sound breathing. The trip to the PAC in a pick-up took about 20 minutes. On arrival at the PAC Clinic at 00:25 AM , the PAC doctor examined him and found no signs of life. Your learning from this incident.. Call for help immediately in an emergency situation PDO Second Alert Date: 21.10.2017 Incident: Non Accidental Death What happened? On 21 October 2017, a time-keeper was found unresponsive in his room when a colleague noticed him missing. Medical services were called but they could not revive him in spite of all possible medical aid (CPR, AED & Life Saving Drugs). Your learning from this incident.. PDO Second Alert What happened? Your learning from this incident. Date: 15 June 2017 Incident: NAD What happened? A 44 year-old worker, suddenly collapsed to the ground while walking to get into the vacuum tanker used for sludge removal his co-workers brought him to PDO clinic for treatment. On arrival, doctor found him unresponsive with no obvious external injuries. Doctor attempted CPR but failed to revive him. Your learning from this incident. Report all medical conditions to medical staff Provide early CPR in case of Heart attack. Ensure Medical aid is called immediately. Wait for ambulance or medical responder.
