Science vocabulary

INQUIRY- A QUESTION THAT IS ASKED ABOUT SOMETHING EXAMPLE: WHY IS THE SKY BLUE?

ACCURATE- CORRECT EXAMPLE: YOU WANT YOUR MEASUREMENTS TO BE ACCURATE.

PREDICT- TO MAKE A GOOD GUESS EXAMPLE: I PREDICT IT WILL RAIN TODAY.

EVIDENCE- IS INFORMATION COLLECTED IN A SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY EVIDENCE- IS INFORMATION COLLECTED IN A SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY. EXAMPLE: THE FOOTPRINTS WERE EVIDENCE AT THE CRIME SCENE.

TRAIT-a characteristic or feature of a plant or animal

ADAPTATION-a trait that helps a living thing survive There are 2 kinds: 1. Physical (how they look) 2. behavioral (what they do or how they behave)

SURVIVE-to stay alive

REPRODUCE-to produce new living things

REGION-a specific area on a map

HABITAT- the natural home of an animal or plant

Environment- everything that is around a living thing.

Ecosystem-living and non-living things that interact in a place.

Organism-a living thing.

Camouflage- to blend in with your surroundings

Hibernation-to be in a deep sleep for a long period of time

Migration- to travel from one place to another and back again for survival

Mimicry-being able to resemble another animal or object
