Presented by Cori Strickler & Anne Driscoll Finding what Fits… Communication Strategies at the Center of Faculty/Liaison Interaction Presented by Cori Strickler & Anne Driscoll

Five traditional strategies Join committees Host outreach events Attend department/faculty meetings Attended campus events hosted by other departments Personal interaction Your successes and failures

What do subject librarians do? Attend adjunct faculty orientation Approach each dean of departments or department chairs to get a list of adjuncts teaching for those depts. Contact adjuncts directly Use social media Offer instruction sessions Offer a conference room in the library for a space to meet Offer help as added values to their classes Encourage word of mouth by full-time faculty What works for you? Obtain lists of new faculty from HR Approach each dean of departments or department chairs to get a list of adjuncts teaching for those depts. Conduct adjuncts directly and set up appointments to meet with them either in person or via Go To Meeting In the new wing of the library, we are going to offer adjuncts a space to meet with students For those teaching distance sessions, we set up infoguides, for them and help them set up course reserves I have been very successful with other faculty telling new faculty to book me for classes or for help.
