Canada By: Kate Mazur

Where people live Most people live in the southern part of Canada They have more natural resources than the northern part of Canada It is also much warmer than the north It is easier for trade

Natural Resources Timber Fish Gold Wheat Iron

Water pollution of the Great Lakes Environmental Issues Water Pollution Water pollution of the Great Lakes Cause – toxic waste being dumped into the water Effect – unpotable water and animals losing their habitats Solution – making sure harmful chemicals don’t go into the lakes

Languages of Canada Canada is a bilingual country Canada speaks mostly English (56.9%) and French (21.3%) French and English became the languages of Canada because Great Britain and France colonized Canada

Quebec- Should I stay or should I go Pros Cons Maintaining a 2nd national Language – French – is expensive so Canada would save money Less arguments about language diversity of Canada There would be a gap in the country so the islands to the east would probably become a part of the US Tourists from French-speaking are attracted to the Quebec area because of its French speaking nature which bring in money, Canada’s tourism industry would suffer

Quebec- Should I stay or should I go

Economic Continuum Part 2 Canada has a mixed-market economy A mixed market economy is where Canada’s business owners get to make their own decisions, but the government regulates and approves the decisions.

NAFTA NAFTA is an agreement between Mexico, Canada, and The United States in which countries don’t have to pay tariffs {taxes} on goods and services when trading among each other NAFTA helps Canada because it provides over 100,000 jobs in the auto-industry Without NAFTA those people would lose their jobs and cars would be very limited in Canada.
