Presentation transcript:

T1 ITB Status Phase 1“Proof of Concept” Field Test conducted McNary U9 Dec 14-16 05 Although limited operating range tested, results promising Continuous monitoring of unit to identify “steady- state” operation and when to log data Interfaces with GDACS (security issues) Numerous fixes & improvements identified Once corrected, “unattended and automatic” collection of data possible

T1 ITB Phase 1 Test to verify bugs have been corrected Parallel to IH index testing Feb ’06 Off-cam (Fixed Blade) testing of Kaplan unit should prove applicability of ITB to Francis unit Testing @ IH in lieu of previously proposed CJ verification test

Type 1 ITB Phase 2 Procure non-GDACS ITB ~$12k Procure additional GDACS ITB ~$12k Demonstration Project Kaplan (GDACS): LGR 4-6 proposed site (FY07) Demonstration project Francis (non-GDACS): Site tbd, DWO or CJ

T1 Future Work T1 Implementation into GDACS: - ITB source code availability - ITB long term maintenance - Develop code for GDACS Est. $850k next 3 yrs to develop

T1 Future Work W-K Rel Flow Signal into GDACS X-ducers w/ automated flushing system on each unit B1,B2, TD, JD, CJ, IH, LGR, LMO, LGO 97 Kaplan & 27 Francis installations AF, Libby & Willamette Valley Projects E&D FY06 Implementation FY07 & FY08 Develop new discharge tables

Absolute Flow CJ & DWO 2 units CJ, 3 units DWO currently installed Flow value into GDACS Decision on remaining units Range of possibilities: Acoustic flow meters on every unit $$$ Gibson Test every unit $$$ Acoustic flow single unit given family & index test remaining units of same family DWO testing to verify method (3) If successful, phased implementation at CJ
