Outline Introduction Aim and scope of the project Objectives Modifications Surfacing Maintenance Estimated cost of materials Summary

Introduction Client statement: The requested to conceive a design for a playground for the ( SNC ) that is: 1.Safe 2.Affordable 3.Reliable

Aim and scope of the project Aim of the project: Designing a device for a playground that satisfies the objectives and obey the restrictions. Scope of the project: Designing at least 2 devices for the playground that will be used by children in ( SNC ).

Objectives Objectives: Safe Affordable Reliable Easy to maintain Easy to assemble

Evaluation and generation of alternatives Identifying the objectives using metrics. Identifying the functions using requirements. Building a Morph Chart using means. Choosing the design using Numerical Evaluation Matrices.

Modifications Design 1: ( before modification )

Modifications Design 1 ( after modification )

Modifications

Changes and modifications: Adding of mind challenging games Alternating some of the features of the original design Changing the design of the climbing ropes Modification of the design to accommodate with the different symptoms of the children Extra safety measures to ensure safety

Modifications Design 2: ( before modification )

Modifications Design 2 ( after modification )

Modifications Changes and modifications: Changing the design to an assembly based see-saw Addition of safety means Installing barriers to the springs to restrict its movement Modification of the design to accommodate with the different symptoms of the children

Surfacing safety zones: For both the playhouse and see-saw Materials used and why: 1.Pea gravel 2.Shredded/recycled rubber mulch

Maintenance Aim is to decrease maintenance rate by using : Materials with available spare parts. Materials with low maintenance rate. Materials with no need for specialist to assemble. Materials that takes short time to assemble. Decrease maintenance rate Decrease cost.

Estimated cost of materials MaterialAmountTotal cost (AED) Rubber mulch72 square ft1100 Plastic260 square ft1600 Metal sheets8 square ft5300 Metal poles (15)1125 kg4000 Ropes8.4 m100 The total cost of the equipments add up to (AED)

Summary Team Legados assignment. Most important features of the detailed design: Extra safety measures. Changing the designs to reduce the cost. Improving the design to suit different children with different symptoms. Testing the detailed design. Getting approval to start building device.
