Beowulf Web Quest! For the next two weeks, we’re going to focus on Beowulf, an epic poem from the Anglo-Saxon culture. What on earth are “Anglo-Saxons,” you ask? Well, to understand what’s going on with Beowulf in his story, we’re going to have to find out who the Anglo-Saxons were and what they were like. As this is a senior level English class, the days where I lecture and you take notes are sadly over – now, it’s up to you and your classmates to find the knowledge you’ll need for yourselves!

Beowulf Web Quest! Today and tomorrow, your task will be to create a Google Slides presentation on one of five topics. You will use reliable websites to gather information, and answer the questions in each topic to guide your presentation. Your presentation must include: At least 5 slides, but no more than 10 At least one image on each slide NON-PLAGIARIZED information regarding your topic 3 question quiz about your presentation Works cited page with link to every website used

Beowulf Web Quest! You have five minutes to grab a laptop, log in, and sit sext to your new group.  Group 1 (Overview): Kiara, Derrick, Jasmine Group 2 (Culture): Kay’lan, La’Niya, Carlos Group 3 (War and Politics): Rodney, Cameron, Quintina Group 4 (Religion and Values): Lamya, Unique, Ladaja, Group 5 (Literature): Tionna, Rayvonn, Nikita

Beowulf Web Quest! Goals for the rest of class: Decide how your group will split up the research. On a Google Doc or a piece of paper, begin taking notes in your own words. Remember to keep track of what website you use for your Works Cited page. The rule of thumb is six or more words in the exact same order is considered plagiarism. If you have copied more than six words from a source, find a way to reword it. If you get far enough that you’d like to begin putting together your group’s Google Slide presentation, you may do so. Ask me if you’re not sure how to share it with your group.
