Objectives Compare and evaluate current mechanisms for consumer and public participation in industry rule-making in the telecommunications, media and online service sectors Develop a framework for evaluating the success and limitations of current consultation mechanisms Identify the implications of our findings for the future of Australian communications regulation

Project Plan Stage 1: Research and report Mapping consumer and public interest participation within the existing industry rule-making frameworks of the Australian telecommunications, media and online sectors Reviewing overseas developments in consumer and public interest participation in EU, UK and US Carrying out literature review Analysis, culminating in a Preliminary Research Report in December 2018 Stage 2: Consult, review, communicate Round Tables with consumers, industry and regulators in March 2019 Final review and amendment of Report Publications and other communication
