Writing a Strong Conclusion
Why is a strong conclusion important? It is important to have a strong conclusion, since this is the last chance you have to make an impression on your reader. The goal of your conclusion isn’t to introduce any new ideas, but to sum up everything you’ve written. Specifically, your conclusion should accomplish three major goals:
The THREE for conclusion Rephrase the main idea of your essay… your thesis statement Summarize the subpoints of your essay Leave the reader with an interesting final impression
Signal Words Let the reader know you are about to wrap things up Use words/phrases like: In conclusion Finally Last(ly) In closing To sum it all up In summation
Rephrase the Thesis The key word is rephrase. Write the thesis in a different way. Example: Original thesis: Every child should have a pet because pets provide companionship, teach compassion, and encourage responsibility. Rephrased thesis: Companionship, compassion, and responsibility are three things that we can give to our children in the form of a warm, cuddly, and furry friend.
Think about it… By the time you finish a book or story, you usually forget some of the details from the beginning… Same with an essay… Your reader might have forgotten your first point by the time they finish your other body paragraphs. That is why it is important to remind them of your main points.
Come Full Circle/Sum Things Up End where you began: look back at the hook you used to introduce your essay and give some thought to how you might tie the end of your essay to the beginning. For example: if you began with an anecdote, you might refer to that anecdote again in the conclusion.
Introduction You are in control. You are the leader, and the success or failure of your realm depends on your ability to think, adapt, plan ahead, and execute. Are you an international diplomat, the CEO of a major corporation, or a field general leading troops into battle? You may be some day, but right now you are a child playing a game of chess. Chess has proven benefits for young people: It exercises their brains, improves their academic performance, and teaches them positive social skills.
Conclusion Lastly, though some parents think it is the computer that is the key to preparing their children for the rigors of the 21st century, others turn to chess and its promise of increased brain power, increased success in school, and increased social. Chess is an ancient game that causes people to use their brains and process consequences. Chess has been around for years and year, and time and time again, it proves to develop the brain in several ways. These parents know that the ancient game of kings and queens might just help their child someday become a success—perhaps even as a future diplomat, a CEO, or field general.
Conclusion Activity In conclusion, regular exercise has many benefits such as releasing tension, improving appearance, and increasing stamina. Releasing tension and frustration from the body can be extremely relaxing. Also, most people are not satisfied with the way their body looks, and exercising regularly helps improve appearance. Lastly, exercising regularly increases stamina, which allows the one to achieve more throughout the day. Although easy solutions to the goals of losing weight and achieving an attractive energetic body saturate the media, actually acquiring these benefits is not an easy task. The rewards, however, are fully worth the effort of an established exercise program.
