Fire and Evacuation Plan The Building Fire Safety Regulations requires every workplace to have a written fire and evacuation plan. The general detail in the plan will cover: Evacuation routes Individuals with disabilities Accounting for people Assembly areas Admin roles Area warden duties Restrictions on vehicle movements Control and coordination Communication First aid response

Fire and Evacuation Plan The Fire and Evacuation Diagram is displayed in buildings to show the location of the Assembly Point, route, alternate route, locator, and the basic drill RACE. All staff need to know the detail shown on the diagram.

RACE and PASS RACE is shown on diagrams as the basic requirements for an evacuation Rescue Alarm Contain Extinguish PASS is the method used for Extinguisher operation Pull Aim Squeeze Sweep

Stay Calm Assist any person in immediate danger – if safe to do so Help disabled and the impaired to evacuate Close the doors and windows to prevent spreading CALL THE FIRE SERVICE ON 000 Raise the Alarm (break glass) – or call out loudly Fire, Fire, Fire , Evacuate Extinguish the fire if it has not fully developed – Don’t put own safety at risk Evacuate to an assembly area – the designated muster point for the Site Always follow the direction of the Warden and provide assistance when requested Remain at the Assembly Area until all are accounted for and the All Clear is given by the Chief Warden!! Do not attempt to re-enter once evacuated!!!
