The World and India After the Indus River Valley Indo-Europeans begin migrating - - Migrated from mid Europe to all over Europe Hittites attacked Mesopotamia (Fertile Crescent Aryans invade Indus River Valley Aryans change everything about Indus society

The New India India goes from classless to caste system Caste system- rigid social classes associated with religion Aryans expected non-Aryans to do worst jobs 3 main social classes Brahmin- priests Warriors Peasants Social classes based on color- known as varnas

Karma and Dharma Karma-actions in this life that affect the next. Dharma-the religious and moral duties of an individual. Caste system-strict Group you are in according to class, occupation, or gender.

Buddhism Founder- Siddhartha Gautama Was Hindu- thought it was unfair Wanders and sees the world Sees religion as the right path Searches for enlightenment- wisdom Gains enlightenment after 49 days -takes the name Buddha- enlightened one
