Location and Climate The Tropical Rainforest has an average temperature of twenty degrees C. There is never a frost. There is eight to fourteen feet of rain per year. They are located near the equator in a band called the tropics. Fifty percent are found in Latin America.

Plants Some plants in the Tropical Rainforest are Canopy tree, Bengal Bamboo, Bougainvillea, Durain, and Jambu. Canopy Tree helps to provide food for people and animals. The Bengal Bamboo does well in a very moist environment with a lot of rainfall. It can grow between forty and eighty feet high. The Bougainvillea can grow up to thirty feet and can be a vine or shrub with thorns. People believe the Durians only die if they are blown by a storm or cut down. The Jambu is a small tree or a large shrub. The fruit grown on it is small and light red.

Animals Some animals are the Tarsier, Kinkajou, Pink River Dolphin, and Macaws. The Tarsier is a tree animal and it spends almost all of its entire life in the trees. If it wanted to walk on land, it would hop. It can turn its neck 360 degrees! The kinkajou can grasp from tree to tree with its tail. When a kinkajou is born, it is blind but can still grasp objects with the tail. The Pink River Dolphins adaptation is that its color tends to match the water in its environment. They can reach up to 10 feet long and 200 pounds! The macaws adaptation is the beak. It helps it climb and crush food.

Endangered Species Some endangered species are Toucan, Gorilla, and Harpy Eagle. The Toucan's habitat loss has endangered their existence. The Gorilla's hunter threats, habitat loss, and disease cause its extinction. The Harpy Eagle's habitat loss and hunting cause very few of the Harpy Eagle.

What we learned Brooke - I learned about all of the animals and plants in the tropical rainforest. I also learned about all the endangered species. I would like to do everything I can to help them. Gianna Ca.- From the project I learned about one of the greatest biomes in the world. Also some of the most amazing plants and animals ever! Paige - I learned about all the plants and animals in the Tropical Rainforest. I also learned about all of the endangered animals. They are so cute! I wish I could help them!
