Classroom Policy Reminders Be in your seat when the bell rings! Be in your assigned seat AT ALL TIMES! Do not move without permission…you will be referred for defiance. Use the time we give you to get things done! Tuck your shirt in! Ask us before listening to music. Use the netbook properly. If we ask you to do something, do it the first time you are asked. Again, this is a defiance issue.

UNIT V: Innovation

Chinese Technology China’s legacy: inventions -Printing (movable type) -Paper -Gunpowder -Compass -Abacus -Mechanical clock

Bell Ringer 1/3/12 Which of the Chinese inventions that we looked at yesterday would you consider to be the most important to our society and why? Why do you think some societies produce lots of creative inventions and others do not?

Three Gorges Dam Writing (Due tomorrow at the beginning of class) Use what you learned today as well as online research to write a half page to one page response that supports one of the two following statements: China’s Three Gorges Dam is a necessary step in their economic progression. The dam’s benefits far outweigh any drawbacks. China’s Three Gorges Dam is an environmental disaster that is ruining lives and destroying the landscape around it. The economic benefits are not worth the damage is it causing.
