Presentation transcript:

Welcome Parents! 9.11.18 Mrs. McCarville

US History Mrs. McCarville

What do we cover? Semester 1 Foundations Expansion Civil War Industrialization Imperialism & WWI 1920s Semester 2 Great Depression WWII Cold War Civil Rights Vietnam Contemporary America Unfortunately it is a lot of material to cover in 1 year, so we can’t get into as much detail as some of our history buffs would like. My goal is to give them a solid overview of US History and the skills to be able to find more information.

What can I expect? Lots of reading Documentaries & videos Discussion & debates Group work Writing thesis statements, paragraphs, essays Multiple Choice & short answer tests

Syllabus FAQ: Grades Assessments (tests, quizzes, projects, essays): 60% Participation (homework & classwork): 30% Final: 10%

Syllabus FAQ: Grades Test Corrections available IF they have no missing assignments I do NOT offer extra credit I DO round grades If your student is within .5% of the next letter grade I will round it up Example: A 92.5% (A-) becomes a 93% (A)

Syllabus FAQ: Late Work I DO accept late work 10% deduction This means that it is DEFINITELY worth it to do any missing assignments & get caught up
