brisk Brisk means quick and fast. These people were taking a brisk walk because it was cold outside.

brisk The rooster walked with a brisk, springy walk. I rode my bike in a brisk way. The opposite of brisk is slow.

* What animals have a brisk step? * When are times you might take a brisk walk? * What animals have a brisk step?

strutted If you strutted across a room, then you walked like you were the most important person in the world.

back and forth in dismay. strutted The rooster strutted back and forth in dismay. The actor strutted across the stage.

* If a rooster strutted into our classroom, what would you do? * Do you think models strut down an aisle?

Gobbled means to eat quickly.

gobbled The rooster gobbled down the kernel with one sharp peck. Would you gobble down your least favorite food? Would you gobble down your dessert?

gobbled * Tell about a favorite snack that you have gobbled down. * If you gobbled your food at every meal, what might happen to you? * What would you do if a family pet gobbled up your dinner?

When you request something, you ask for it.

Would you request help from your teacher or your pet? The cows request electric blankets. Would you request help from your teacher or your pet?

negotiate When you negotiate, you talk, and offer to give up one thing in exchange for another, in hopes of reaching an agreement.

negotiate The cows and Farmer Brown negotiate to reach an agreement. Would you negotiate with your parents to play outside? I tried to negotiate with my babysitter to stay up later.

Improve means to make something better.
