University of Wisconsin at Madison Migration to SL5 James Bellinger University of Wisconsin at Madison 3-Mar-2010 3-Mar-2010 1

Validation Progress 6.1.6.migrate No obviously significant code changes 10K test: Tests ProductionExe and Stntuples No differences 6.1.6 / SL3 vs 6.1.6.migrate / SL4 Few events differed 6.1.6 / SL3 vs 6.1.6.migrate SL5 Consistent with round off differences 100K test: in progress Power user tests: please do Top ntuple testing started by Hyun Su 3-Mar-2010

Validation Progress 6.1.4mc.migrate No obviously significant code changes 10K tests 6.1.4mc / SL3 vs 6.1.4mc.migrate SL3, SL4, and SL5 No mysql yet (used in MC tarball) Pythia shows some significant differences. Is new behavior correct? Generators/decayers in cdfSim (Bgenerator, Evtgen, Herwig, Tauola all seem to work the same) Geant and TrigSim++ work the same ProductionExe differs Still investigating 3-Mar-2010

Deliverables 6.1.6.m, development, 6.1.4mc.m, 6.1.4.m Compiled/built on SL4 and SL5 (and SL3) Validated to produce the same results as their SL3 normal counterparts Use new Oracle client to match server 6.1.4mc.m tarballs for SL4 and SL5 3-Mar-2010

When 6.1.6m is released To run on the CAF (SL4 for now) build on a SL4 machine: lnx1 or lnx2 To run on the CDF GRID (to soon become SL5) build on a SL5 machine: lnx3 or lnx5 3-Mar-2010

Power Users: required for running on non-native platforms To run SL3 binaries on SL4: setup cdfsoft2 6.1.6.m –f Linux+2.6-2.3.4 tcl-8.3.5-92.2 To run SL3 binaries on SL5: setup cdfsoft2 6.1.6.m –f Linux+2.6-2.5 readline-4.3-5.2 To run SL4 binaries on SL5: libssl.so.4, libcrypto.so.4 3-Mar-2010

Proposed Target Dates 15-Mar-2010: Announce validation of ported releases 6.1.6.m and 6.1.4mc.m General user validation begins using lnx3 and KISTI 15-Apr-2010: Begin rolling upgrade of farms to SL5 Urge desktop migrations 1-May-2010: Logins to central SL3 disabled upgrade lnx1/2 to SL5 (no more central SL4) Get disruptions out of the way before summer conferences 3-Mar-2010
