The Five Themes

#1 -- Location Relative Location Ex – Oklahoma is north of Texas. Ex - Distance Exact Location: Using map coordinates (More on this later…)

#2 Place What makes a location unique? Physical Features Human Features

#3 Region Describes an area of land with something in common. Politics: America is a democracy Climate: Texas Gulf Coast is humid Language Religion Culture: way of life

#4 --Movement Information People and Goods Travel Trade What are ways that movement is limited? Internet Radio and TV Books and Newspapers How has technology affected the movement of information? Is this positive or negative?

#5 Interaction with Environment How do humans deal with the world around them? How do weather cycles affect people? How does physical geography affect people?

REVIEW: How can we show location? Relative Location: An object’s location in relation to another object. Absolute or Exact Location: Location that is found using latitude and longitude.
