FIRELEC Migration Solution Don't let wiring costs prevent you from upgrading a Emerson PROVOX™ 20-Series system to a Siemens SIMATIC S7-300™ system This document is the property of FIRELEC. No copy, even partial, allowed without prior writen authorization.

PROVOX™ 20-Series > S7-300™ FMS-PVXCL-S7 PROVOX™ 20-Series > S7-300™ Two solutions available : Solution N°1 : FMS-PVXCL-S7-1 Removing I/O panels Removing associated I/O cables Removing I/O files CP6701 Replacing existing PCBs (Printed Circuit Board) of PROVOX™ I/O panels by PCBs of IOPs (Input Output Panels) Solution N°2 : FMS-PVXCL-S7-2 Keeping existing I/O panels Keeping associated I/O cables Keeping I/O files CP6701 and removing communications and I/O cards Installing PIAs (PROVOX™ Interface Adapters) in the existing CP6701 I/O files

PROVOX™ 20 series > S7-300™ Using IOPs FMS-PVXCL-S7-1 PROVOX™ 20 series > S7-300™ Using IOPs No existing PROVOX™ hardware is kept (I/O File – I/O card – I/O panel – I/O cable) Existing PROVOX™ I/O panels are replaced by new IOPs which are electrically and mechanically fully compatible Existing wiring is kept in place Time for Hardware migration from an old toward a new I/O panel : about 30mn per panel I/O card and I/O panel to be removed

FMS-PVXCL-S7-1 Hardware to be removed PROVOX™ Highway to be removed Primary PROVOX™ Highway Secondary PROVOX™ Highway SR90 or SRx Controller to be removed SR90 or SRx Controller CP6701 Power supply and Communication Cards to be removed 1 - 14 I/O cards 20 series to be removed I/O Termination panel I/O cables to be removed I/O Termination panel I/O Termination panel I/O panels to be removed Process I/Os stay in place in the existing cable trays Process I/Os

Hardware to be installed FMS-PVXCL-S7-1 Hardware to be installed Secondary S7-300™ Highway Cntrl PS I/O1 I/O2 I/O3 I/O4 I/O5 I/O6 I/O7 I/O8 Primary S7-300™ Highway The new Siemens SIMATIC S7-300™ architecture is installed The new IOPs are installed using the existing mechanical structure of the cabinets (30 mn per panel) The new FIRELEC I/O cables are installed between IOPs and Siemens S7™ I/O cards New I/O panel New I/O panel New I/O panel Process I/Os

Advantages FMS-PVXCL-S7-1 The main advantages of the IOPs panels for PROVOX™ migration are as follow : Existing wiring is just disconnected and reconnected without any change at the same place (same terminals with same labelling and same electrical features) The existing loop drawings are kept without any modification, allowing all maintenance processes and procedures to remain unchanged.

PROVOX™ 20 series > S7-300™ Using PIA (PROVOX™ Interface Adapter) FMS-PVXCL-S7-2 PROVOX™ 20 series > S7-300™ Using PIA (PROVOX™ Interface Adapter) New Siemens S7™ System I/O card to be removed I/O panel and cable to be kept The PROVOX™ Interface Adapter (PIA) allows to connect easily, an existing PROVOX™ Termination Panel to a Siemens S7™ I/O card keeping : the existing I/O panel the existing associated I/O cable

FMS-PVXCL-S7-2 Hardware to be removed PROVOX™ Highway to be removed Primary PROVOX™ Highway Secondary PROVOX™ Highway SR90 or SRx Controller to be removed SR90 or SRx Controller CP6701 Power supply and Communication Cards to be removed 1 - 14 I/O cards 20 series to be removed I/O Files (CP6701) are kept I/O panels and I/O cables stay in place in the existing cabinets Process I/Os stay in place in the existing cable trays I/O Termination panel I/O Termination panel I/O Termination panel Process I/Os

Hardware to be installed FMS-PVXCL-S7-2 Hardware to be installed Secondary S7-300™ Highway Cntrl PS I/O1 I/O2 I/O3 I/O4 I/O5 I/O6 I/O7 I/O8 Primary S7-300™ Highway The new Siemens SIMATIC S7-300™ architecture is installed The new FIRELEC I/O cables are installed between PIAs and Siemens S7™ I/O cards CP6701 The I/O files are kept and used for the installation of the PIAs No active component is kept in the existing file The new PIAs are installed in the existing I/O Files (CP6701) I/O Termination panel I/O Termination panel I/O Termination panel Process I/Os

The main advantages of the PIAs for PROVOX™ migration are as follow : FMS-PVXCL-S7-2 Advantages The main advantages of the PIAs for PROVOX™ migration are as follow : Existing I/O cables are just disconnected from the PROVOX™ I/O cards and reconnected to the PIA without any change at the same place (same terminals with same labelling and same electrical features) The existing loop drawings are kept without any modification, allowing all maintenance processes and procedures to remain unchanged.
