HOW CAN YOU DO IT ?
RETENTION The retention is one of the most important tasks to do in the CLS program. The first thing that I do is make copies of each class list and I give it to the teacher and I ask the teacher to please check the students that have two or more absences so I can call them. The next day I call the students and I log the answer in the form that was provided to us.
Recruitment All of us know it. People call the Hot Line and every School Principal receives this information. In this case my Principal sent it to me by e-mail . I received the call information and I called them back. When I called them back I gave them all the information about the school: Address, Courses, Schedule, Documents required for registration etc These are my recruitment calls that I log in the form.
Transition When the students are in the upper levels of ESOL we explain to them that they have the choice to take ABE/GED preparation classes or vocational classes We provide the information on what to do in order to enroll these classes.
CITIZENSHIP Once the students pass the citizenship interview at Immigration Office they bring the approved notice and I make a copy and award them with a certificate of completion. Then, I take a picture of them to celebrate their achievement and I file all these documents in the binder.
VOTER REGISTRATION After the students passed the interview, and they swear to become a citizen they return to the school to fill out the form. Students will sign a form. We provide the envelope and stamp.
