Why pbworks? Intuitive interface (Similar to MS Office) Free account has few limitations 2GB of storage Reliability Allows for editing vs. chronological updates “No fuss, no muss”

Why edmodo? Format emulates facebook Creates a social network for students/parents Extends the classroom Gives students a sense of ownership Replaces/supports “agenda books” Provides a vast PD network Edmodo at a glance

Why twitter? Expand the scope and breadth of your Professional Development Experience frequent ongoing Professional Development Connect your classroom practices to your Professional Development

Why Khanacademy/readtheory? Student Directed ‘modules’ Integrates tutorials and practice Structured as a game Provides LOTS of assessment data for teachers

Why Surveymonkey? Easy to create and edit surveys Easy to embed surveys on your website Easy to view response data Fairly unlimited free account Students seem to be very responsive to surveys.

Feedback… After setting up your accounts for the ‘essential sites’, return to our “TodaysMeet” chat room and share which tool you are most interested in learning more about and experimenting with.

Work Time… Now that you have a pbworks account (or other), and you’ve started to think about the criteria for a good classroom website, start brainstorming/working on your own website homepage. Begin reading your seminar article and thinking about a summary of main points and some thought provoking discussion questions

For next time… Give some thought to possible topics for your lesson plan. Recall that the criteria requires the use of technology and that resources be available through your website whenever possible.
