http://teamnutrition.usda.gov @TeamNutrition About Team Nutrition Initiative of the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service to support the Federal Child Nutrition Programs Team Nutrition provides a number of free nutrition education materials that the public can access through our Web site. Schools that participate in one of the Child Nutrition programs, like the NSLP, can also request free printed copies of materials for their schools by using the order form on our Web site. Provides curricula, posters, parent handouts, and other resources free of charge to schools Aims to improve children’s lifelong eating and physical activity habits http://teamnutrition.usda.gov @TeamNutrition

We have ready-to-go lessons and curricula for pre-K through 8th grade that meet national education standards for English language arts, math, science, and health. Check out our popular events booklet to find creative ideas and how-to instructions for 20 themed events for elementary and middle school. We also have available 8 new posters, and “Try Day” and “Launch Your Day With Breakfast” stickers that may be used as a part of taste-testing activities or school breakfast promotion events. These stickers are ONLY available to Team Nutrition Schools, so schools should visit the Team Nutrition Web site to check whether they are a TN School – and if not, sign up!

Team Nutrition E-Books for Kids New! 6 Discover MyPlate Emergent Readers Two Bite Club (English and Spanish) Narration, word highlighting, interactive activities to test comprehension FNS released eight (8) Team Nutrition MyPlate E-Books for preschool and kindergarten-aged children. These MyPlate E-Books include The Two Bite Club storybook in English and Spanish, and the six Discover MyPlate Emergent Readers. The print versions of these publications have been widely popular and the new e-book formats will expand their accessibility and interactivity. The e-books feature audio narration and highlighting of story text, as well as interactive activities to promote literacy, engagement, nutrition knowledge, and adoption of healthy eating and physical activity behaviors. The e-books are available for free download via Team Nutrition’s Resource Library Web site, and can be viewed using iOS devices via iBooks, Android devices via the free e-reader application Kobo, and personal computers via the e-reader application Readium using the Google Chrome Web browser.

Summer Food, Summer Moves Expected Spring 2016 Infographic and brochure for parents to increase awareness Activity guides and family handouts for summer meal sites Focus: Sugar-sweetened beverages Fruits and veggies Screen time Physical activity Summer meal participation DRAFT This Spring, FNS will release a resource kit for summer meal sites entitled Summer Food, Summer Moves.  Each resource kit includes an Operator Activity Guide with nutrition education activities and kid-friendly recipes, 7 educational posters, 6 types of promotional fliers, an activity placemat, and a set of 6 different educational handouts for parents.  In addition to the resource kit, FNS will release a brochure and infographic that schools and community groups can distribute to parents to increase awareness of the importance of healthy food choices and physical activity during the summer months.  The resource kit, parent brochure, and infographic will be available in both English and Spanish for free download via the Team Nutrition Web site. Printed copies will be available to schools and summer meal sites participating in CN programs during Summer 2016.
