What is Surrealism?

You can pull from old dreams/nightmares You can pull from old memories You can cheat and make something up Express your inner artist and have fun!

Asian Contemporary Art Yang Yongliang - Viewing of the Tide 2008

Symbolism – How to use it? An artistic and poetic movement or style using symbolic images and indirect suggestion to express mystical ideas, emotions, and states of mind. Symbolist painters wanted their pictures to depict a meaning beyond just the figures they drew.  The gown forms a powerful symbol of a person changing their identity as well as the hope of the future.

Step 1 – Capturing your subject Shoot a picture of a person you admire with exceptional lighting. Be sure to pose your subject well and take several different poses so you have several good shots to choose from.

Step 2 – Capturing 7-10 background/foreground images Landscapes Walls Textures Sky Objects such as: Trees/branches Flowers Or anything with interesting characteristics You will need 7-10 layers in Photoshop

Step 3 – Adding Painting Techniques using Photoshop You will learn how to paint onto your photomontage with the amazing paint palette in Photoshop. You are required to have some painting techniques added to your photomontage.

Step 4 – Options Using Pexels https://www.pexels.com/search/texture/ For free textures Use text in your composition You can use any of the skills & tools you’ve learned so far

Final Project – this will be split into 3 panels and stand upright
