Science/Social Studies: Colored goldfish crackers Mrs. Poffenberger’s Friday, Sept. 9th edition CLASSROOM 2016-2017 news Sneak Peak AT NEXT WEEK Week in Review: This week we learned each other’s name with the help of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! We were introduced to our first two rainbow words – me and my and how to draw a person using mat man. These are foundational writing skills. Our first journal writing was about things we like to do and we learned to pull sounds slowly out of our mouths and to use “magic lines” when we are stuck on a sound. We made a coconut book that matched numbers to object 1 -5 and graphed if we liked or disliked coconut. We made two class books about who is in our room and what we are good at. We sorted items by color, item, and size. We loved beginning our group time when we work as a team and rotate through tasks! Theme for the Week: Family and Friends Math: Sorting & Patterns Science/Social Studies: Traits of a good friend and citizen Language Concepts: F f Popcorn Word: of/for Next Week’s Food We will need the following donated for an activity:   Colored goldfish crackers Upcoming Events: September 5 – No School – Labor Day September 9 – Fall Pictures September 23 – In Service-No Classes Contact info: Melissa Poffenberger mmpoffenberger@tippcity.k12.oh.us 937-667-2275

of for POPCORN WORDS Unfinished Work: Mrs. Poffenberger Keep reading! Since next week is “All About Family” week I wanted to share a bit about myself with you. I attended University of Toledo and received an education degree in Recreational Therapy. I also have a master’s of education degree from University of Toledo for grade Pre-k to 3rd grade. This is my 13th year teaching here at Nevin Coppock. I am excited to get to know all of my kindergarteners this year! I am married, live in Tipp City and have three children: Abigayle 10 years old, Drew 7 years olds and Izzy 6 years old. I can’t wait to learn more about each of your children not only this week but all year as they grow! Warm up hands to tie shoes and to cut by using fine motor muscles. Try working with playdough, putting together small puzzles, and using stress balls Sort with M&Ms, crackers, toys... Write first names –use a highlighter and have students trace their name Cut, Cut, Cut. Keep reading! Unfinished Work: Unfinished work is very common at this point in the year. Please do not be concerned. Feel free to complete work when students show interest but please do not return it to school. Please do not view this work as homework. We are all still adjusting to the pace of school. POPCORN WORDS Trace, cut, practice: of for
