Objectives of this Presentation What is Title VI? How does it relate to the THSO Grantees? What are YOUR responsibilities as a THSO Grantee? What a THSO Grantee can expect? Questions? Where can YOU find resources? 2015 GHSO Grant Orientation Workshop

Title VI Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibits discrimination based on race, color, and national origin. Specifically, 42, USC 200d states that; “No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal Financial assistance.” What?

How does Title VI relate to THSO Grantees ? Your organization receives federal financial assistance in the form of a grant to implement a program or activity, which obligates your organization to Title VI responsibilities… How does Title VI relate to THSO Grantees ?

What are THSO Grantees’ Responsibilities Agency Lead Appoint a VI Coordinator Provide Title VI Training Develop a Title VI Program Grantee Required Title VI Posters Completion and submission of a Title VI survey- includes reporting of info related to system to report complaints.

What can THSO Grantees’ Expect? Site & Desk Monitoring by THSO Program Staff Each grantee will be required to complete an on-line survey. The form is accessible at: http://tntrafficsafety.org/titlevi. The deadline for completion is September 30, 2018. The 2018 assessment form and the process of reporting will be improved from the 2017 form. Duplicate reporting won’t occur: drop down boxes for quick input of information. Title VI questions
