As you write your essay… You should have FIVE paragraphs. Introduction- 6-8 sentences; last sentence is your definition of a hero. Body one- FUNCTION- at least 8 sentences Body two- EXAMPLES- at least 8 sentences Body three- NEGATION- at least 6 sentences Conclusion- 6-8 sentences Make sure that you don’t have any fragments or run-on sentences. Make sure all of your sentences are different from each other- start with different words, use different verbs. VARIETY makes for better essays! TRANSITIONS- Add sentences at the beginning and/or end of your paragraphs to help your essay move smoothly from one paragraph to the next. Does your essay flow together? To test this, try reading it out loud (quietly) to yourself. If it’s hard for you to read, then you should make some changes! You may also want to get a friend to read it. If they have a hard time, then you need to make changes!
