INTRODUCTION  Brazil – problems in relation the energy questions.  Strategy : to increase the energy efficiency.  Photovoltaic systems - causing minor environmental demage; - next to the point to consumption.  Knowing the capacity that one photovoltaic plant has to generate energy: - generating source of energy; - increases the capacity condition of the local eletric net.

AIM  Potential of photovoltaic generation in urban areas;  Evaluating the relation between the generated energy and the consumption;  Comparative analysis between the demand curve and the solar generated curve.

METHODOLOGY  Studied of two sectors of the city of Florianópolis – distinct characteristcs;  Verifyed the annual energy consumptions of each sector – date supplied for the corresponding feeders.

METODOLOGY – Studied Sectors

METODOLOGY – Calculation of radiation and Photovoltaic generation  RADIASOL software – to calculate the amount of incident radiation  solar radiation datebase of the city of Florianópolis available from LABSOLAR.  The amount of Photovoltaic energy generated will be obtained as a function of the installed power, the efficiency of the inverter system and the incident radiation on the panel plane.

METODOLOGY – Tilt and orientation Quantifying the roof areas  Calculated the amount of energy generated. First case Tilt = 0 degree. Global idea of the potential of photovoltaic generation. Second case – ideal conditions  Tilt = local latitude = 27 degrees. Thirth case – real conditions  samples

METODOLOGY – Tilt and orientation To verify if there is a large variation of energy generation between the observed cases. Significant variation  real conditions.

CONCLUSIONS Photovoltaic Systems  a lot of benefits - environmental; - to the utilities. The study was carried out with the use of photovoltaic panels based in thin films of amourphous silicon – less efficient tecnhology of the market.
