The Ball and Chain of Guilt Four “R” Words Ps 32, Ps 51

REVELATION If never feel guilty something is wrong! If you always feel guilty . . wrong too! GUILT IS THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING! All deal with it, have guilt for diff. reasons. What do we do with our guilt?

David is a great example Ps 51 – Plea for forgiveness Ps 32 – Thanksgiving been received . . Ps 32:3-4 When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away. Through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away . . . Ps 51: 3 “For I know my transgressions and my sin is ever before me.”

REPENTENCE Guilt is a blessing if it motivates us to realize something is wrong! Ps 51:4 Against You, and You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

REPENTANCE Ps 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, " I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; And You forgave the guilt of my sin

REPENTANCE Problem is not that we don’t know better, we just don’t do better. David: II Sam 11:3 “Is this not Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Did not want to hear… Once mindful of our sins, we have choices . . Must “own up” to our wrongs & repent.

RELEASE NO FISHING God Releases COMPLETELY!! Ps 32:5-7 You forgave (released) the guilt of my sin. Isa 44:22 "I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud . .” Micah 7:19 “Yes, You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. NO FISHING

RELEASE Ps 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, I have removed your transgressions from you.” God FORGIVES AND FORGETS! David’s mentioned 57 times in NT Zero mention of Bathsheba. God uses those who come clean, honestly.

We must release the guilt! Can’t dwell on the wrong. Come clean to those we hurt. Live wiser and cast sin away . . . Join God in the celebration of the return!

RESTORATION Ps 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” Def: Lit: “Put back in place.” NT. “Setting of broken bone.” After healing, then return to former place. Must not live in the past, but learn from it and get beyond it!
