Exposure Conflict Poetry

Lesson Objectives At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

Wilfred Owen English and Welsh poet and soldier. One of the leading poets of the First World War. Shocking, realistic war poetry, which focused on the horrors of trenches and gas warfare. A stark contrast to the public perception of war at the time. Not overly patriotic, as people expected. Some of his best-known works—most of which were published after his death—include "Dulce et Decorum Est", "Insensibility", "Anthem for Doomed Youth", "Futility" and "Strange Meeting".

Read through the poem ‘Exposure’ by Wilfred Owen. Work through the worksheet provided.
