World Cup 2018 The purpose of the tutor reflections are to Gather The purpose of the tutor reflections are to 1. Enable staff and students to reflect upon the schools vision and values. Provide staff and students with an opportunity to explore the impact of faith and the teachings of Jesus in today’s world. (SIAMS Framework Nov 2017)

World Cup 2018 Word The 2018 FIFA World Cup is upon us. It is likely to dominate the news for the next few weeks Last week the world cup 2018 kicked off with Russia vs Saudi Arabia.

World Cup 2018 Who will lift the world cup? Word Who will lift the world cup? It’s bound to be Germany. They are the current world champions. They’ve got the same successful manager they’ve had for years. But the last time a country won two consecutive world cups was back in 1962.

World Cup 2018 Who will lift the world cup? Word Who will lift the world cup? What about Spain. How can you ignore a nation whose key players are part of the successful Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City squads? But didn’t Spain sack their manager last week? Two days before the tournament.

World Cup 2018 Who will lift the world cup? Word Who will lift the world cup? Brazil is the favorite. End of. But then they were the favorite in the last world cup and didn’t even make the final. In fact the last world cup game they played they lost 7-1.

World Cup 2018 Who will lift the world cup? Word Who will lift the world cup? What about England? I know we always say ‘this will be our year’, and it never is. But with Harry Kane on such great goal-scoring form and Gareth Southgate seems to be a good thing… Who knows what could happen?

World Cup 2018 Who will lift the world cup? What about Panama? Word Who will lift the world cup? What about Panama? To say that Panama is a bit of an outsider would be an understatement. This is the first time they have made it to the finals. Their FIFA world ranking is 53 and current odds on them winning the World Cup 2018 are 1000-1

World Cup 2018 Word But… Panama’s two top goal-scorers have each scored nearly 50 goals and have over 100 caps. Where big teams like Italy have failed to qualify, Panama succeeded against all odds in making it the to world cup finals 2018.

World Cup 2018 On 24 June, Panama play . . . England. Word On 24 June, Panama play . . . England. England are expected win against a team who have only qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time this year. But wait, there is another country that has reached the World Cup finals for the first time this year. Can anyone tell me which country it is?

World Cup 2018 Word ICELAND! I’d like to take you back to the last international tournament that England played in, Euro 2016. On 27 June, England met Iceland in the last 16 of the tournament, the first of the knockout rounds. It all began so well, with England taking an early lead through a Wayne Rooney penalty.

World Cup 2018 Word Iceland’s equalizer came barely two minutes after England’s goal, and their winning goal followed a little over ten minutes later. England were out of the tournament and the manager, Roy Hodgson, was forced to resign. The underdog had won!

World Cup 2018 Reflect There may be times when we feel like the under dog. We struggle in some areas, make bad decisions. If we fail enough times, we can be tempted to believe we’ll never be a success. Christians believe that Jesus was a supporter of the under dog. You may wish to discuss with your tutor group what Jesus meant by this

World Cup 2018 Reflect According to the gospels Jesus spent much of his time with the outcasts, the poor and the sick. He raised the profile of women and children in a society where both were often seen as less important. He challenged the educated elite. He told his friends "So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” (Matt 20 v 6) You may wish to discuss with your tutor group what Jesus meant by this

World Cup 2018 Word Take a moment to reflect on the words of this poem by Mike Garry. The poem is called ‘Never Seen Before’ Please click on image to play hyper link

World Cup 2018 Reflect May this World Cup prompt us not to misjudge the ‘under dog.’ May the past achievements of Iceland and Panama remind us not to underestimate the ‘under dog.’ May the words and actions of Jesus inspire us to be supporters of the ‘under dog’

World Cup 2018 Dismiss Last year world slam poetry champion Harry and his friend Chris came into school and ran a writing workshops with some of our students. Here is their alternative world cup song...just for fun. Please click on image to play hyper link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBhlYONmXL0
