Location Stanly County is located in the Piedmont region of N.C. It is bordered by the counties of Rowan, Davidson, Cabarrus, Anson, Union & Montgomery.
History of Stanly County The county was formed in 1841 from the part of Montgomery County west of the Pee Dee River. It was named for John Stanly of New Bern (1774-1834). Pfeiffer University is located here.
County Government There are five members on the County’s Board of Commissioners The county manager is Andy Lucas. The county has a Sheriff’s Department, A Planning Board, a Tax Department, and a Tourism Board among many others. Stanly County’s Courthouse
Stanly’s County Seat Historic Downtown Albemarle Albemarle is the county seat of Stanly County. Albemarle has no motto. The city was incorporated in 1857.
