Year 9 Subject Selection – Studio Art Sculpture

Course Description In this unit, students explore ways of developing artwork in three dimensions. Sculptures are researched, designed and could be produced using a variety of techniques, such as; plaster or talc stone carving, paper machete, wire or card construction and air dried construction “clays” or modelling material. Students research contemporary sculpture artists exploring social commentary and how elements and principles of design are used in a 3D format.

Why Study this? Assessment tasks A folio of 3D sculptures created from a variety of media. Written analysis of sculpture artwork. Class/group project to be erected in College environment.

Subject pathway…. Art and design courses. Studio arts. Artist and arts careers. Visual communication Design. Illustration and Multi media courses. Media ; graphic design and can also lead to combine with Journalism /Illustrator courses.

Extra activities Students will be encouraged to create artwork for local exhibitions and competitions. Artwork will be displayed in the Nagle College grounds and environment.
