Reciprocating Saw By: Mitchell French

Objective Make sure everybody knows how and when to use a reciprocating saw Ensure everybody keeps their fingers when doing so

Applications Very useful for demolition Used by plumbers and electricians Can get into hard to reach places Blade movement make it great for cutting hard materials Good for trimming that have been felled Useful all around saw

Safety Wear proper protective equipment Mask, goggles, gloves Don’t force the saw while cutting Don’t overreach Don’t use saw when fatigued or under the influence of drugs or alchohol

Safety Features of Saw “Lock Off” button Safety for the saw Must depress in order to start saw Once saw is stopped, will reset itself Can be depressed from either side

Advantages Very Durable Can be used for wide range of applications Very portable Easily controlled Comfortably shaped Multiple cutting movements Easy to change blade Numerous blade types

Disadvantages Does not make very accurate cuts Need high voltage to be very effective Higher voltages can be heavy

Metal Cutting Plunge Cutting Don’t twist or bend blade Use cutting oil Use a vice Plunge Cutting Cutting hole in something Make sure blade at full speed before you touch material Mark the line out clearly

Conclusion Reciprocating saws are very durable multi-purpose tools Wide range of Applications Encounter them in many places
