Page 29 What do you see in the picture? There are 2 people in the picture. They are eating food. They are using chopsticks. The two people are smiling. They are listening to music.

Pages 30 and 31 Tasks Read the story on page 31 called China Jade. Write one sentence from the story for each picture on page 30. Check the answers on the next slide.

Page 30 - Answers Check your answers. It is Mrs. Baroni’s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Baroni are at their favorite Chinese restaurant. Mrs. Baroni is forty years old today. China Jade is small and elegant. He brings Mr. and Mrs. Baroni a menu and a pot of tea. Then he helps them order. They order soup for their first course. For their main course, they order Peking duck. For dessert, they want fruit and coffee. They listen to classical music while they eat. They always leave a nice tip when Yan gives them special attention. Mrs. Baroni puts her red rose from China Jade in a vase.

Prepositions Before we look at page 33 part 2, let’s think about prepositions. Prepositions are small words that tell us a lot of information. They tell us how two nouns or pronouns (e.g. it) are connected. At, in and on talk about places. But they are a little different. AT: a general place, like school, work and home. He is at work. IN: a spot inside a bigger space. My phone is in my bag. ON: touching the side of something. My phone is on the TV.

Prepositions There are other prepositions. WITH: one thing goes with another thing. I like coffee with cream. FOR: when talking about food and meals. I had pizza for lunch. OF: when talking about food and drink, tells us the amount (how much). I had two glasses of wine. Let’s practice. Look at the pictures and answer the question with a preposition.

Where is the pizza? (box) The pizza is in a box.

Where is the lamp? (desk)
