What is a crisis? A time of intense difficulty, trouble or danger A decisive moment

What do you think it means to be in a global water CRISIS? Difficulty getting water Water is not safe causing health troubles We are in a very decisive time If we do not find a solution to this water crisis, millions of people will not have clean water!

Important facts about water 60% of the human body is water 70% of the earth is covered in water 97% of that water is salt water 2% of that water is frozen in glaciers 1% is fresh, drinkable water Many people lack access basic sanitation and access to clean water

Important facts about water There are seven billion people on earth 1 out of 8 has to go out everyday to find clean water 1 out of 6 do not have access to a toilet Everyday women and children have to go find water Can only take what they can carry Often has bacteria

Important facts about water The human body can survive THREE days without water Many children have the responsibility of have to go gather water instead of going to school or getting a job to help their families

The Problem There is a global water crisis. Clean water is not accessible to everyone. In many places around the world there are dangerous levels of substances that are harmful to organisms.

Task As global citizens, it is our responsibility to educate ourselves and others about the seriousness of this problem! Your class will be divided into groups of 2-3. Each group is responsible for researching the causes and possible solutions for the water crisis.

You will follow the Public Policy Analysis Define the problem Gather the evidence Identify causes Evaluate the policy Develop solutions Select best solution  

Final Product Your group is responsible for 2 final products. The first is a google slide presentation that will be presented to your peers. The second is a letter to a group or person that will be able to hear your concerns and do something about it!
